About Jaclyn

Jan 17Hello there and thank you for taking an interest in my page and my work!

I graduated from the University of Maryland in May 2016 where I completed a dual degree in journalism and American studies. Born and raised in the suburbs of  Atlanta, GA, I desired to follow my father’s legacy and become a Terp at his alma mater. An invitation into the diversity promoting living and learning program, Global Communities, helped seal my college decision.

From a young age, I loved to tell stories. My passion for creative writing and intense curiosity evolved into this need and desire to report to the world.  The most logical step was for me to pursue a degree of journalism.

I am currently looking to pursue a career in print or digital media, with chances to edit and help influence content. I want to have a positive impact on developing women and promote a sense of empowerment among readers with my stories. I’m also very interested in the exploding career path of social media.

I have a wide range of passions ranging from entertainment, fashion, health, lifestyle, and women’s issues to nonprofit and advocacy work involving education, homelessness and cultural diversity.

I interned at national sites such as Seventeen.com and city-regional publications under the Modern Luxury umbrella in Atlanta as well as free-lanced at university publications and local newspapers.

As an undergrad, I devoted much of my time serving as editor in chief of Her Campus at Maryland, a website serving the interests of Maryland’s female students. I managed a staff of almost 40 writers to produce high-level magazine web content five days a week.

Other experiences worth highlighting include my cultural experience studying abroad for four months in Barcelona, my enlightening alternative break experience building a school in Guatemala, and my involvement in Greek life. My interests include travel, popular culture, fashion, food, music, tennis, and photography.

If you would like to work with me, or interested in hiring me for a project, please do not hesitate to contact me.
